We are experiencing technical difficulties and karmazain.com is down at the moment. I’m on the phone with my registrar’s customer service now and hope to have this solved soon. TESTING NEW STOREFRONT: HUGE DISCOUNTS FOR TESTERS

KNOWN ISSUES

SERVICES NOT SHOWING: As of Friday night, you can’t get to the services through the pages called Altar Work and Consultations – those are just info pages at the moment. Services like light settings and consultations will be listed as store inventory soon (though shipping should not be charged). I am working on this but i’ts a lower priority than getting inventory and checkout weirdness ironed out since those services can still be booked elsewhere (like at this blog and at AIRR).
ETA: Consultations are now available at the website but are not yet linked to the directory/info page.

SHIPPING WEIRDNESS: There is a chance that you will not be charged shipping for your purchase. I have to update this in a manner that will take a very long time; some listings are updated and some aren’t. If you get lucky, you get lucky – enjoy the additional discount! If you are overseas, though, I might have to cancel your order if you aren’t charged shipping and don’t want to pay a second invoice; I can only afford so much cost here in the name of testing.

MAILING LIST: It was working, and then it wasn’t, and I don’t understand what’s up yet, but I’m working on it.
ETA: I believe the newsletter/mailing list signup is now working. You can enter your email address and then you will get a confirmation link to confirm.

NO ITEM INFO IN POWDER/INCENSE CATEGORY: This is not only a known issue, it’s been an issue for years now 🙂 Unfortunately, I just always had things higher up on the priority list, and many of these items have never had product descriptions. It’s on the to-do list though.

RELATED PRODUCTS: This is weird, but it’s probably going to stay weird until I get all the stuff put into its proper category, and that has to be done one item at a time.

COUPON CODES: Apparently, you need to enter the coupon code after paying. So if you don’t see a place to enter it beforehand, maybe don’t panic? This makes no sense to me but I will check it out when I get somebody to go through checkout while I’m sitting here over their shoulder so I can see what’s going on.

RAFFLE and SALE – Ultra-Reduced Light Settings; Four Categories of Prizes, drawing July 23

This post announces a SALE which is simultaneously a “RAFFLE” for PRIZES (but a faux raffle – for your purposes, it works like a raffle, I just have to actually deliver an item to you to keep it legal.) The paypal buttons don’t work on wordpress, so you will have to go over to the mirror blog on livejournal to purchase/enter.

Overseas customers ARE eligible and welcome to enter the drawing.So legally this is a sale; you are purchasing a physical item. Each purchase of an item gives one chance to win a prize and enters you into a drawing for that prize category. Drawing will be held on July 23, 2013. There are four categories of sale, and four different prizes, one for each category.

Light Settings

You can also have a small light set (photo but no report) by making a donation of whatever amount you choose. Donations of $2 or more will enter you into a drawing for a full vigil light setting with report (to be set once I am reopened in my new location).

How It Works

The paypal buttons below are “buy it now,” not a cart. The shipping cost is built in – what you see is what you pay; there is no shipping added later. You select the category you would like to purchase in, hit the button, and tell me what (one) formula or item from that category you want using the “text” section of the paypal form. The item cost includes first-class shipping to the US, UK, Australia, Canada, and pretty much anywhere else (though be aware that Italy has a lousy track record with safe, timely delivery of packages from the US).*

If you want to get more than one item, or want to have more than one entry into the drawing for your category, or want to enter into more than one prize category, then you’ll need to complete a separate transaction for each one. A pain, I know, but here’s why it’s a one-button sale with no cart, where you cannot get more than one item in each transaction: Each purchase enters you in for a chance to win the prize associated with its category. It works just like a raffle; it just has to be a “faux raffle” because of legal/tax fine print.

So every purchase is really a purchase – you pay $6.50 for a bottle of Protection oil (includes shipping), and you get a bottle of Protection oil. But along with that purchase, you are entered into the drawing for the Hoodoo Oils prize. If you want more than two bottles of oil, you have to complete two transactions, but you get two entries as well. If you want ten chances to win, you have to make ten purchases. If you want a chance at two different prizes, you have to make a purchase in two different categories. The sale will end and the buttons will come down the night of Tuesday the 23rd of July; each purchase is entered into the hat and the winners are drawn randomly on that night, and their prizes will shipped to them. Standard prep/handling times apply to all products purchased.

So no, there is no shopping cart and no combined shipping and no shipping discount. The purpose is to raise funds for my store’s relocation, and I am on a short deadline, so it’s simplest for me to do a one-item-per-transaction and one-transaction-per-entry. And, as a thank-you for participating, you get a chance to win a potentially substantial prize for the cost of a packet of bath salts or bottle of oil.

So you can think about it as a sale on certain select items, each of which comes with a chance to win a prize, or you can think of it like buying a raffle ticket that happens to come with a product. The point here is that legally, I’m not running a raffle. But the more purchases you make in each category, the more chances to win the category’s prize.

HOLY MEDAL Sale: Prize = Saint (or Loa) Devotional Kit

Category: Holy Medal (your choice): choose from the following saints (or ask if your favorite is not listed): Gerard, Expedite, Michael, OL Czestochowa, Cecilia, Dymphna, Raphael, Joseph, Sebastian, Brigid, Philomena, Benedict, OL of Loretto, Guardian Angel., Peter, Paul. Others are available; if you see it in stock at the store, you can order it here too. If you do not see it at the store, ask first if you want to be sure what you want is in stock. You can put a few choices in the text box if you like, in order of preference, and I’ll try to fill one of them, if you want to do it that way – it’s possible one or more will sell out before the sale is over, so you should probably at least put your top two choices in there in case your first choice sells out.

If you prefer a holy card instead of a holy medal, I can probably do that, but ask first if your heart is set on a card – I have more medals in stock than cards. Medals and cards will ship in a regular first class envelope with a stamp, no delivery confirmation. The prize will ship like my products usually ship, with padding/packaging and delivery confirmation.

Prize: I will send you a customized devotional kit for the saint, spirit, angel, or loa of your choice. The exact ingredients will depend on the saint or spirit you choose AND on how many entries this category gets. It will contain, at minimum, a rosary with a saints’ medal or other appropriate charm attached (no guarantees on material or style, but it won’t be some piece of ugly plastic, I promise); a bottle of liquid bath or soap (it might be a bath specific to your loa if I have a formula for it, or if you choose a saint and I don’t have a bath for that saint, I’ll send a corresponding bath or soap like Blessing, Protection, Psychic Vision, etc); a packet of herb mixture, blessed and dressed, suitable for incense or inclusion in a mojo bag or spell jar (same as with baths; if I have a formula for that saint or spirit, I’ll send that, or otherwise an appropriate companion formula); some sort of candle (depending on the saint or spirit); and some sort of image, depending on what saint or spirit you choose – it might be a holy card, it might be a veve painted onto whatever I feel like painting (a glass votive candle holder, or a bottle of oil, or a glass bottle for your altar, etc).

The winner has input on this – I’ll try to meet your dreams/preferences as I put your kit together, but no promises other than what is written here. LIGHT SETTING: Donation-Based

I rarely do auctions, and if you shop with me you know I don’t do half-ounce bottles of oil at this time.

Right now, you have a chance to get a limited-edition half-ounce bottle of St. Michael, St. Gerard, or St. Jude oil at a fraction of the cost of a two-dram bottle.

And don’t forget that nearly all my regular in-stock items are listed at bonanza, usually at a significant discount from eBay. The plan is to keep the bonanza store fully stocked and to only stock one of a kind jewelry, custom stuff, and a basic array of commonly-requested oils, salts, etc at eBay. Every month it seems like, they introduce a new measure to make life harder and more expensive for small sellers, and they are about to make doing business on ebay even more difficult and expensive, yet again, in June, which will result in yet ANOTHER price increase if I’m to stay afloat. I don’t like raising my prices on y’all when my material cost doesn’t go up and the cost of doing business is related to third-party site overhead and is avoidable. So I remain confirmed in my intention to move stock and business off eBay. I’m always happy to list something for you if you don’t want to learn your way around another site, but I just can’t afford to keep a full inventory at eBay anymore. They have made it nearly impossible for me to make a profit on smaller items like medals, oils, and bath salts, so you will not be able to find everything you could want there past this summer. And, I’m still waiting on the web guy to finish the final tweaks on the new website store that I have been promising for over six months – it has not been abandoned, just ran into some problems. It will eventually have a full inventory list of oils, salts, and powders as well, though the eBay store will always have custom stuff and jewelry and the occasional auction (auctions are my "gift" to y’all – I almost always lose money on them, but I’m so grateful to you guys for sticking with me even though I spend so much time bitching about eBay that I like to do them every once in a while to say "thanks" – because I am fully aware I couldn’t do any of this store stuff without y’all).

I’m out of town now and will be back Sunday late, and life should be back to normal by Tuesday. I should be coming back with a new batch of dirt dauber nest, hopefully some new bones, and a new batch of chicken feet which should be ready to go in a week or two.

store and site stock news/updates re. eBay and Bonanza.com

eBay came pretty close to hitting "the last straw" with me a few weeks ago when they gigged me for listing a prohibited item, removed the listing, and docked my "policy compliance" rating down to "low" (which endangers my power seller status and makes my fees higher and goes on my permanent record in case they ever want to kick me off one day). The offending listing was not in fact prohibited and I was not in violation of any policy whatsoever, but attempts to get a human being to use a brain cell on this matter were doomed. Here’s how it worked:

I got an email saying my Five Around the Fifties bath salts were removed due to the listing being for a prohibited item. In the portion of the form letter that was customized to tell you what prohibition you violate, it said "salvia divinorum may not be sold on eBay." Since none of my listings mention salvia divinorum, I was perplexed and picked up the phone. I was assured by a very nice but completely impotent customer service person that he would look into it and let me know what was up (and if you know me at all, you know that I have to be pretty pissed off to pick up the telephone if email is an option). A week later I called again, as I’d had no return call. I’m deferred again. They finally get back to me with an email. Here is the glorious computerized, search-form-enabled, utterly freakin’ stupid and illogical manner in which my bath salt listing gets removed:

New things at Bonanza. (Though by "new" I mostly mean "newly imported from ebay" rather than "never seen before." eBay has seriously, seriously pissed me off this last week or so, and I just don’t think I can keep selling lower-cost stock there, such as oils and bath salts. It’s just not worth their fees and trouble anymore, not for inexpensively-priced stock items, sigh…)

This serves a few purposes – one is to help me get familiar with how things work on Bonanza from the seller end (I’ve made some purchases on there already, but haven’t sold anything yet). Another is to get y’all to help me check for any glitches or weirdness, and to make sure I have my settings set up properly for combined shipping (which I *always* offer – the settings on Bonanza booth are supposed to default to full shipping cost for first item and $1 per item after that, but you can as usual request an invoice before paying and, if you choose priority mail or one of your items is only available via priority mail, the other items that will fit in the box will ship for free).
